The "B" Team

Hey, not my name for the new crew but Colin thought it a clever way to refer to dear friends Brett and Bob! Kidding aside - we agree that there is no better A Team!

Colin, Brett and Bob
Brett and Bob arrived the evening of Sept 1 and here you have the crew who intend to take Late Date through to Fernandina Beach!

Black River Channel Bridge outside North Bay Marina
Departing North Bay Marina, French Island, La Crosse at 7 AM, Late Date went under the Black River Channel Lift Bridge. A river crossing has been in this location since 1876 and a variety of structures followed. This particular bridge crossing - which is termed a bascule draw liftbridge - was built in 2004.

The day was again gorgeous and the lads took Late Date through a total of four Lock & Dams.  Their photo was taken at Guttenberg, IA which is near Lock & Dam 10 on Mississippi River mile 615.0. This structure was constructed and placed in operation November 1937.

Bob took the helm for the day and quickly settled in.

One of the more interesting occurrences the farther you go south on the Mississippi are these wee river homes that are on floating docks.

The last lock tonight was Lock & Dam 11 which is located on the north end of Dubuque and the team arrived at tonight's marina around cocktail hour!
