Port Charles Marina MO September 20

Bob, Brett and Colin arrived at 2:30 PM at Port Charles MO and were able to get showers, do laundry and get into town for dinner and groceries.  The river continues to move quickly - around 3 knots - and remains high for this time of year so this makes for very good travel conditions.  The weather also continues to be incredibly beautiful as you can see from the photos. This being Saturday, there was little traffic on the river and this helped since they were not waiting for barge or two. Late Date is gaining a reputation as a righteous team on the river and are permitted to float in the middle of locks. Again and again, Brett's experience is invaluable.
Entering Port Charles Marina
Safely Tucked in for the Night

The entrance to Port Charles Marina is tricky.  There is a cut through between Island 521 and Enterprise Island and you head straight from the green marker to the middle of the cut through. then they had to go across to the Missouri Shore line and run close to the shore. Compounding this is the fact that this is also close to where the Illinois enters the Mississippi and this makes the waters quite turbulent. Upshot, Brett took Late Date into the marina.
